President Reuven Rivlin hosted for the first time an event for International Autism Day, marked annually on April 2 to raise awareness of the issue. The event was held at the President's Residence and attended by Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman, children's representatives, school graduates on the Autistic spectrum, and representatives of various organizations.

"Integrating children and people with autism into society is a supreme task that each and every one of us can and should accept," said the President, adding: "To do this, first of all you have to know how to get out of the familiar place and try to meet the dear men and women hidden under the name 'Autism', to want to do a little more for them, and certainly not using the term and expression as a derogatory term."
