The United States is expected to deepen its involvement in the regional initiative to export gas from the eastern Mediterranean to Europe, according to Yisrael Hayom.

This was the spirit of the summit held yesterday in Jerusalem, attended by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, President Nicos Anastasiades of Cyprus and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. It was also reported that it was agreed to invite US Energy Secretary Rick Perry to take an active part in the regional energy ministers' forum, which includes Egypt, and is expected to encourage US energy companies to divert their investments to the region's gas deposits.
