The Regavim movement for preservation of state lands has submitted a petition the Supreme Court, demanding that the State be ordered to take all actions against the Waqf's takeover of the Mercy/Golden Gate (Sha'ar Harachamim in Hebrew, Bab Ar-Rahma in Arabic) compound on the Temple Mount, according to Israeli public radio.
The petition says that the takeover is a very severe and irreparable violation of the status quo in the area, and the dismantling of the state's responsibility.
