Israeli security forces overnight Saturday shot and killed a Palestinian Arab after he broke through a police checkpoint on Highway 90 in the Jordan Valley area.
During the inspection of a vehicle that was stopped at the checkpoint, another vehicle drove quickly behind it, bypassed the vehicle that had been stopped at the checkpoint, and rushed towards one of the security officers who ordered him to stop. When the driver failed to heed the officers’ calls to stop, the officers fired at the vehicle in order to arrest him, and as a result the vehicle stopped and the driver, a Palestinian Arab resident of one of the villages in the area, was injured and died. Two suspects fled the vehicle. A search of the vehicle found stolen property.
