Chairman Hanan Melcer of the Central Elections Committee is scheduled to decide on Tuesday whether to allow retired general Tal Russo to run for Knesset on the Labor list, and Pinchas Idan to compete for the Likud.
It is claimed that Russo did not meet the conditions for a cooling-off period from the Israel Defense Force because he served special reserve duty after completing his military service. Idan, head of the workers' committee at the Airports Authority, lowered his rank in the civil service so that he would not have to resign 100 days before the elections.
