A prosecutor's statement will be filed today against Valery Skowitz, 64, on suspicion of the 1993 murder of Vardit Barkanot in the Eshtaol Forest.

Police investigators identified and arrested the suspect Skowitz who was living in a hostel in central Jerusalem, after having been abroad for 23 years and returning to Israel in 2018.

Today the suspect will be brought before the Magistrate's Court in Jerusalem, where he will be presented with a prosecutor's statement for the offenses attributed to him, including murder and sexual offenses. Prosecutors will also ask to extend his remand to file an indictment in the coming days.
