Strasbourg Chief Rabbi demands authorities reinforce guard and patrols

Standing Committee of the Conference of European Rabbis member Strasbourg Chief Rabbi Avraham Weil responded to the recent vandilzation of a Jewish cemetery in eastern France.

"We haven't yet recovered from the desecration of the cemetery a month ago", said Rabbi Weil, "We're shocked and appalled and demand the authorities reinforce their guard and patrols, and to take decisive action against the despicable acts. We all believe that this criminal act was carried out tonight by criminals from the extreme-Right in anticipation of the planned rallies against anti-Semitism."

Vandals painted swastikas and anti-Semitic slogans on about 90 graves in a Jewish cemetery in eastern France, shortly before planned marches nationwide against a rise in anti-Semitic attacks.
