Former education minister Gideon Saar says that the Education Ministry's decision, under the threat of the Teachers' Union, to refrain from publishing school data for the Meitzav (measures of school efficiency and growth) tests is scandalous.

Saar said, "Assessment and evaluation have negative side effects - one has to know how to deal with them. But withdrawing from this method will also move the education system backward. It's the right of the public (i.e., the parents) to know the achievements of the various schools."
