Attorney General Avichai Mandelbit made it clear that in his opinion there is no reason the Committee of Higher Education (CHE) should not be allowed to make a decision regarding establishing a medical school at the University of Ariel, and that there was no way to determine a conflict of interests in this case.
The advisor calls on the CHE to hold a serious discussion within a short period of time that will enable the University of Ariel, the students and lecturers involved, to prepare for its activities in the coming school year. At the latest, a discussion or discussion should be held within two months of the decision of the Council for Higher Education.
"As the Council for Higher Education in Judea and Samaria decides to establish a Faculty of Medicine, it is appropriate that the Council for Higher Education be asked to make a decision in the case as soon as possible, in order to enable the University of Ariel and all the relevant bodies to take steps accordingly. It is clear that in the circumstances of the case, a belated decision by the CHE in this matter will be the final binding decision in accordance with its powers under the law.
