A criminal prisoner, Yasser Shatiya Hamed, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment since 2009 for murder, a resident of Shechem (Nablus), was found unconscious in his cell in the Eshel Prison in southern Israel on Friday. The prison staff began resuscitation efforts and called for an infantry unit that pronounced him dead.
As in any incident of a death of a prisoner, the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
