Border Police thwarted a stabbing attack in the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hevron.

An Arab tried to enter the compound this morning with a knife. The suspect, in his 20s, apparently mixed into a group of tourists who came to one of the inspection posts manned by Border Police.

The fighters noticed from the suspect's behavior that he was not connected to the group and called him aside for a more thorough inspection. When their suspicion grew, the soldiers aimed their weapons at which point the suspect pulled out the knife that had been hidden in his clothes, threw it to the ground, and gave himself up.

An initial investigation revealed that this was indeed an intended stabbing attack. The suspect, a resident of Hevron, was interrogated by security officials.
