A compromise agreement was recently reached between the Israel Police and the Honenu legal-aid organization representing a number of minors who were illegally detained and cuffed after they were arrested during the evacuation of the Meganei Eretz outpost near Har Bracha in Samaria.

According to the compromise, the Israel Police will be required to pay the minors 4,500 shekels, to be distributed between them and attorney Haim Bleicher, who represented the petitioners on behalf of the organization. Bleicher filed a NIS 30,000 claim against the police few months ago for mental anguish, humiliation and violation of the dignity of the minors and their rights as a result of public shackling, as well as harming the sense of security of one of the minors while he was with adult detainees.
