The IDF Archive at the Defense Ministry revealed the minutes of the first General Staff meeting held on February 5, 1968, about a week after the loss of contact with the submarine and its crew.
The Chief of Staff at the time, Lt. Gen. Haim Bar-Lev, and the then Commander of the Navy, Major General Shlomo Arel, reported to members of the Forum for the first time about the loss of contact with the Dakar submarine, the fear for the crew's life and the efforts being made to locate it.
