From tomorrow it will be forbidden to use semi-helmets while riding motorcycles, scooters, and ATVs. This follows the entry into force of a new regulation recently signed by Transport and Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz.

Minister Katz noted that the new regulation was intended to increase safety for cyclists in Israel. According to him, the half-helmet covers only the upper part of the head, diminishing its ability to protect the rider from head injury in the event of a car accident or skidding.

The new law states motorcycle riders will now be required to wear a helmet covering the rider's head, at least up to the ears, excluding the half-helmets that do not meet the Israeli standard.
