The New Right political party of Ministers Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked has offered former chief rabbi Rafi Peretz of the Israel Defense Forces a high spot on its list of Knesset candidates, according to the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation.
At the same time, it was reported that senior members of the Jewish Home conducted their own inquiries about Rabbi Peretz, in an attempt to determine whether he would accept the leadership of the party. Peretz refused to comment on the reports.
