Last night worshipers entered the compound, Joseph's Tomb in Shechem, the Old City of Beit Zur on the outskirts of the village of Halhul, and the ancient synagogue in Samua. In addition, thousands of worshipers visited the Cave of the Patriarchs compound in the Jewish area of Hevron.
IDF soldiers, Border Guard forces, the Israel Police and the Civil Administration secured the prayers and entry of approximately 7,500 worshipers in all centers overnight.
When the forces entered Joseph's Tomb, an improvised pipe bomb was found in the compound. The device was confiscated by sappers. There were no casualties and no damage was done. At the entrance to the city of Shechem there were violent riots in which PA Arabs threw stones and Molotov cocktails at IDF soldiers. No casualties were reported.
