The Defense Ministry's Authority for Removal of Land Mines, through the HALO Trust and the Israeli supervisory company 4CI, is currently completing the clearing of mines, unexploded shells and traps from three of the seven monasteries in an area called the "Land of the Monasteries" near the historic baptism site in Qasr Al-Yahud, on the Jordan River.
Once the operation is completed, the plan is to return the plots to the various church denominations and allow visits.
