During a discussion of the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, Committee Chairman Nissan Slomiansky said, "I do not have a majority in the committee to pass the death penalty to terrorists bill."

Member of Knesset Robert Ilatov (Yisrael Beytenu), who initiated the bill, accused the coalition of hastening to change the number of Yisrael Beytenu members on the committee following the party's resignation from the coalition. MK Benny Begin justified the coalition's decision and commented, "[You want] Both to resign and to get seats?" MK Ilatov responded: "The people who must be dealt with ... one of them is you," to which Begin said, "I want to understand what the meaning of 'the people to deal with' means."
