Attorney Eyal Yinon, the Knesset's legal advisor, published a legal opinion Monday evening that Deputy Attorney General Dina Zilber should not be prevented from appearing before the Knesset committees, despite the Minister of Justice's instruction against such appearance.
In a letter to the Knesset speaker, the justice minister and the attorney general, following word from Interior Committee Chairman Yoav Kish that he would prevent Zilber from appearing before his committee, Yinon said that in addition to the general prerogative of offices to choose their representatives at committee meetings, committee chairmen may not dictate to the attorney general, whose unique status and professional independence are indisputable, who will present his position on the committee.
