Russian President Vladimir Putin denied in a conversation with US Vice President Mike Pence that his country had intervened in the presidential election campaign in 2016.
The Kremlin said that Putin's meeting with Pence was a preparation for a planned meeting between Putin and US President Donald Trump at the G20 summit, to be held in Argentina at the end of the month.
