Chairman Moshe Gafni of the Knesset Finance Committee addressed the situation in southern Israel Tuesday morning at the start of the committee's meeting. A member of the haredi-religious United Torah Judaism faction, Gafni said, "Our hearts are with the residents of the south and the soldiers. We offer our condolences to the families of the killers and wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured."
Gafni continued, "We pray to Holy One, blessed is He, that this round [of hostilities] will end and that there will be as few casualties as possible. The round will cause a great deal of damage, [and] we will, as always, try to process the compensation procedures as quickly as possible for the people who suffered damages to their homes, and in general. We will make an effort that the part related to the Finance Committee will be resolved as quickly as possible in this matter."
