Member of Knesset Yoel Razvozov (Yesh Atid), who chairs the Knesset Diaspora Affairs Committee and the Lobby for the Promotion of Sports and an Athletic Lifestyle, has called for serious sanctions against FINA, the international governing body for water sports, if Israel's women's water-polo match against Spain is not held as originally scheduled in the Barcelona suburb of Molins de Rei.
Molins de Rei cancelled the match, citing logistical and security problems following protests by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement against Israel. Israel has not accepted the relocation of a match to a pool in Barcelona. Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev sent a letter to her Spanish counterpart, Monday evening, expressing dismay at the cancellation.
