By a vote of 49-0, the Knesset has passed the first reading of the law to establish a "Do not Call Me" database to enable senior citizens to avoid phone attacks and annoying calls from telemarketing companies.
Social Equality Minister Gila Gamliel, who cosponsored the bill with a number of Knesset members, said, "It's only part of the national plan to deal with the oppression of our elderly. This ugly phenomenon will finish soon."
