Political sources in Jordan cited in the Al-Hayat newspaper say that Amman could have shown more flexibility in renewing the annexes to the peace agreement regarding the lease of the territories in Tzofar and Naharayim, but it encountered the "stubborn policy of the right-wing government in Israel" and the "unilateral steps it has taken on Jerusalem and the holy places."
King Abdullah announced yesterday that he had decided to cancel part of the peace agreement with Israel concerning the leasing of two areas in Naharayim and the Arava, one year ahead of schedule, as required.
