According to a law enacted by the Knesset, today the 30th of the Hebrew month of Tishrei, is the memorial day for Rechavam (Gandhi) Ze'evi, who was assassinated by a terrorist at the Hyatt (now Dan) Hotel near Mount Scopus in Jerusalem in 2001, when the Hebrew date fell on October 17th. Ze'evi was Tourism Minister and a Moledet faction Knesset member at the time.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will attend today's state memorial ceremony on Mount Herzl. The Knesset's will hold a special session next Tuesday.
