Engineering studies are the most popular among students in Israel, according to data published on Thursday morning by the Council for Higher Education ahead of the start of the academic year on October 14.
The data indicate that 18.3% of the total number of students last year - 34,660 students in total - studied engineering. This is the first time that engineering has overtaken the social sciences, which for years was considered the largest and most popular study track in Israel.
