A jackal infected with rabies was found in a quarry at Beit Alfa in the Emek Hamaayanot Council Region of northern Israel. The Health Ministry said the jackal has moved to nearby Kibbutz Nir David.

The ministry requests that anyone who may have come into contact with the infected animal or a stray animal in the area or has animals that might have done so to approach the Health Bureau closest to his place of residence in order to consider the need for preventive treatment. After working hours and during the weekend, you should go to the emergency room in a hospital. Parents are asked to clarify with their children whether they have been in contact with suspicious animals and to contact the Health Bureau urgently. Pet owners are requested to contact their veterinarian to verify their immunization status.
