Ahead of Tuesday morning's meeting of the Diplomatic-Security Cabinet on last week's downing of a Russian military plane in Syria, Member of Knesset Bezalel Smotrich (Jewish Home) called on members of the cabinet "not to blink against Russia."

Writing on Twitter, Smotrich said "Israel must clarify to the Russians its red lines, including announcing that it will intercept the S300 if it is deployed on Syrian soil. Inform and keep your word." He backed the line taken by Prime Minister's Binyamin Netanyahu - "respect for the Russians on the one hand but steadfastness on our principles even at the price of confrontation."
