Member of Knesset Dov Khenin (Joint List) told a Knesset Labor, Welfare and Health Committee meeting on work accidents in the construction industry, Thursday morning, "The number of dead and injured speaks for itself. Behind every figure there is a man and a broken family."
A member of the Knesset Lobby for the Status of Workers in Israel, Khenin continued, "The state of emergency requires us to act now: to adopt the European standard for scaffolding. Greatly increase the number of inspectors. Open a hotline for complaints. And to expand the powers of stopping construction due to repeated safety violations."
