The Israel Defense Forces intend to act to integrate female kashrut supervisors into the military rabbinate, according to IDF Radio.

According to the report, as early as 2014, the former head of the Personnel Directorate decided to open the job to women, but the rabbinate officers chose to ignore the directive and prevented women from being screened for it. The head of the IDF Personnel Branch instructed the military rabbinate to build a suitable training course and to begin recruiting women for the kashrut system, so that at the end there would be supervisors. The IDF said the integration of the women into the program will start in the next few months.
