Minister of Economics and Industry Eli Cohen announced on Tuesday that millions of shekels would be transferred to the development of the northern region in the coming year.
Speaking at a ministry conference this morning in Nahariya, Cohen said, "In the past decade, the governments of Israel have lost the north and not enough resources have been invested, so their development has stopped." He added, "Israel is the Start-up Nation, but high-tech should not be just between Herzliya and Ramat Gan. In order to reduce the gaps that have been created, we will invest NIS 920 million in the coming year in the northern periphery and millions more in strengthening the high-tech industry in the north, in cooperation with the Innovation Authority."
