JTA reports that seven people, including one rabbi, were arrested by police for allegedly trying to scam $14 million earmarked for underprivileged students.
The suspects were arrested after requesting funding for Hasidic Orthodox schools through a federal school technology funding program for underprivileged students, funded by the Federal Communications Commission.
All the Yeshivot for which the seven men requested the money, were schools that do not allow internet.
The scam took place from 2010 to 2016
