The Shin Bet Israel Security Agency has responded to the story of the questioning of American journalist Peter Beinart at Ben-Gurion Airport by saying, "The Israel Security Agency operates solely in accordance with its mission according to the law and for the security of the state. The detaining of Mr. Beinart at Ben Gurion Airport was carried out because of an error in the judgment of the professional official in the field."
An ISA statement concluded, "We regret the aggravation caused to Mr. Beinart. The head of the Israel Security Agency has ordered an investigation of the case."
