Member of Knesset Mossi Raz (Meretz) said on Sunday evening that the recently-passed Nationality Law "is not only aimed at the Arab citizens, it is directed against all citizens of the state. Once equality is undermined, we have no foundation with which we can continue. The coalition refused to support the bill that includes the word 'equality'. There is no democracy in this law."

Speaking at a conference held by the predominantly-Arab Hadash Party against the law, Raz continued, "Now they are trying to turn it into a law about those who have finished the army - but equal citizenship is not conditional on military service. This law violates the equal citizenship that we have to promote. We must unite all of us - citizens of both genders, no matter what religion or nationality - against this law, against discrimination. This law is intended to cause friction between us, but we will unite against it in order to create a much better country here."
