A working meeting was held today in Aqaba between a delegation of the Population and Immigration Authority and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with representatives of the hotels in Eilat, and representatives of the Jordanian government, which discussed the employment of workers from Jordan in Eilat. During the meeting, ongoing issues were raised as well as issues for continued successful cooperation in the future.
Today, 1,500 Eilat hotel employees arrive every morning at the Rabin crossing in the nearby Arava and return to their home in Jordan in the evening. This arrangement has been very successful and recently the government decided to increase the quota to 2,000 employees for hotels. In addition, there are another 300 industrial workers.
