The State Prosecutor's Office will submit an updated position to the Supreme Court on the issue of registration on birth certificates of children adopted by same-sex couples. The position will be submitted after a compromise was reached between Attorney General Dr. Avihai Mandelblit, who sought to present a position supporting the petitioners and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, who demanded that the Supreme Court reject the petition.
According to the compromise, according to the state's position on such a birth certificate, the item "father's name" or "mother's name" will not be registered twice, but rather "the name of the parent." In addition, the State Attorney's Office will present to the Supreme Court in full the position of Interior Minister Deri, who wishes to reject the petition in full.
