Construction and Housing Minister Yoav Galant said on Tuesday that he will present the cabinet with a plan to strengthen buildings in northern cities.
Interviewed by Channel 10 Television in the wake of a series of earthquakes near Lake Kinneret/the Sea of Galilee, Galant said. "We have already reinforced hundreds of buildings, but there are thousands more." He added, "We need to make a plan that includes anti-missile defense and reinforcement against earthquakes." The retired general noted that "hundreds of millions of shekels have accumulated at the Israel Lands Administration and were intended to serve as the urban renewal fund. I assume that the money will be released, because this is the law."
