Labor Party chairman Avi Gabbay said on Thursday that despite the data coming from the polls, he did not intend to appoint former chief of staff Benny Gantz of the Israel Defense Forces as party chairman.

Gabbay told IDF Radio, "I am the only alternative [to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu]. When I was in Europe, the pope wanted to meet me because he wanted to know what was the opposition's position in recent years in Israel."
