Minister Zeev Elkin said on Thursday morning "There is disagreement over the final version" of the military draft law whose first reading was approved by the Knesset this week. Interviewed by Israeli public radio, Elkin said, "I do not know if they will be able to solve everything by the end of the session."
Referring to a threat by haredi Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman to pull his party out of the coalition and possibly force new elections, Elkin said, "No one is looking for elections now. To stop the job and dive into elections, it is not certain that this is what Israel needs. Sometimes irrational things happen, but I hope common sense will win."
