Member of Knesset Yaakov Litzman (United Torah Judaism) threatened, Monday evening in the Knesset plenum, the resignation of his party from the coalition if a bill regarding enlistment in the Israel Defense Forces passes in its present form.
Ahead of the first reading of the measure, the deputy health minister said, "United Torah Judaism will vote against the new draft law today. Don't think for a moment that the fact [Yesh Atid leader Yair] Lapid is in favor will change our position. We will not be able to agree to any law that will restrict Torah scholars in any way, and if this law, as it is, passes through three readings, we will leave the coalition."
