At a meeting of coalition-faction heads this afternoon, the issue of a new conversion law and the additional postponement motion submitted by the state to the Supreme Court was raised following the submission of the Nissim report.
Interior Minister Aryeh Deri from the haredi-religious Shas party said at the meeting that he opposes the Supreme Court delay of the conversion law and that he is demanding to advance the conversion bill he initiated, which was approved by the cabinet and endorsed by the Ministerial Committee on Legislation. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu rejected Deri's request, saying that the state had already submitted a request to postpone the discussion of the law - and that this was his decision.
