A member of the French parliament, Meir Habib, says that he regrets the decision of French Prime Minister Edward Philippe to scrap his planned trip to Israel next week.

"This could have been an opportunity to strengthen relations between the two countries. Israel has a right to defend its citizens against the aggression of Hamas - a terrorist organization if one has to mention," said Habib.

"Beyond the obvious injustice on the subject, we have to be very careful about the accusations against Israel, and unfortunately we have already been exposed to the destructive influence of the conflict in France: from the cries of 'Death to the Jews' in the streets of Paris to the cold-blooded murder of children and adults just because they are Jews."
