Independence Day furlough for soldier jailed for growing a beard

A Kfir anti-terror-unit fighter who was sent to a military prison for growing a traditional beard during the Omer period between Passover and Shavuot will be released to his home for Independence Day. His brother arrived yesterday to be blessed by Rabbi Eliyahu. Watch

The soldier received a 20-day sentence because only orthodox soldiers are entitled to be exempted from shaving their beards and his lifestyle was described as traditional but not orthodox.
