Five protesters were arrested in Rehovot on Tuesday evening during a demonstration calling for the release of Avera Mengistu, the Israeli who is missing in Gaza and believed to be held by Hamas. The protesters are suspected of violating public order, blocking roads and attacking police officers, the Israel Police said.
"The Israel Police will allow freedom of protest, but will not allow public order to be violated and the fabric of life to be harmed," the police said.
