Zionist Union Chairman Avi Gabbay praised the IDF's conduct during the riots by the Gaza security fence Friday.
"The army needs to provide the political echelon with options for action, and the IDF and the defense establishment proved themselves last Friday. [They showed] Determination, discretion and deterrence against Hamas' provocations. The border is a border and if we do not take it seriously nobody will treat it like that.
"The role of the army is to provide policy options for the political echelon. After it did so successfully, the ball returns to the political echelon and its role is to prevent the next round of fighting in Gaza," Gabbay said.
