Mayor Ron Huldai of Tel Aviv-Jaffa offered a qualified welcome this evening to the outline for infiltrators presented by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, saying, "For years, we have demanded that the government of Israel take measures to alleviate the problem it created in the past when it sent tens of thousands of foreigners to Tel Aviv-Jaffa. The residents of the neighborhoods were fed up with promises that have not been kept."
Huldai added, "The proposed outline is welcome but will bring real relief only if the government meets the targets it has presented in the number of Western countries and their dispersion targets throughout the country. The Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality will be happy to cooperate and assist as much as necessary in advancing the plan."
