Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman has expressed his deep sorrow over the death of Rabbi Avichai Rontzki. Writing on Twitter, Liberman remembered Rabbi Rontzki as "a man of education and values".
Referring to Israel's unilateral pullout from Gaza and northern Samaria in 2005, Liberman continued, "With his special personality and sensitivity, Rabbi Rontzki led the fusion of the fragments in the IDF and Israeli society after the Disengagement. Especially these days, I will miss his voice in particular."
