Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat said on Sunday that the budget for 2018, to be voted on at a meeting of the city council at the end of March, is the largest budget ever for the capital, which will stand at 6 billion shekels for the current budget and NIS 3 billion for the development budget.
Barkat said that summaries of the joint team indicate that government resources from the Ministries of Finance, Interior and other government ministries are expected to reach a record amount of NIS 832 million this year. Barkat said, "The amount that is being finalized has not yet been approved and signed, but it will be great news for Jerusalem, allowing a balanced budget to be transferred, ensuring the continued growth of Jerusalem and preventing layoffs and cuts."
