Wednesday, two weeks after she was hospitalized in the maternity ward at Rambam Hospital, a Syrian woman returned to her home with a newborn son, following a complication in pregnancy that led Syrian doctors to tell her she had to choose between her life and that of the baby she was carrying, according to News 2.

According to the medical examination in Syria, the placenta penetrated and entangled in the uterine muscle due to previous births that ended in caesarian surgery. After she could not reach any hospital in Damascus, the woman passed through the humanitarian border with Israel and was admitted to Rambam, where dangerous complicated surgery, performed only twice a year, preceded another cesarean section in which mother and child were both reported healthy.
