Fuel oil leaked this afternoon from a ship at the Kishon pier in Haifa's port, causing pollution of the sea. At this time, Haifa Port teams are carrying out operations to block and pump out the fuel.
Members of the Ministry of Environmental Protection's National Marine Environmental Protection Unit are on board the ship to investigate the circumstances of the incident and have opened a criminal investigation. The ship is being detained by the inspectors until further notice.
